Why did the Estonian IT company with the highest recommendation index decide to use the services of GDC?
We asked Martin Luhari, Head of the Data Center and Cloud Services at OIXIO, how the choice between different data centers was made, what moving to a world-class complex entails for an already thriving business, and how to move IT infrastructure painlessly from one location to another.

INTERVIEW with Tõnu Grünberg, head of the largest data center in the Baltics: how to find customers in difficult times?
A year ago, the largest data center in the Baltics opened its doors outside Tallinn. The opening coincided with Russia’s war in Ukraine, the pan-European energy crisis, and the chip shortage. Tõnu Grünberg, CEO, talks about how GDC has coped with the challenges and what the new year will bring.

If data connection is down, business halts. How to prevent it?

Success story – why is a major bank protecting a new server center from EMP weapons?
We spoke to Andrus Tamm, Head of Product Development and Technology at SEB, one of the largest banks in Scandinavia and the Baltics, about how the bank plans and builds its IT infrastructure, why it needs to protect itself against electromagnetic pulse weapons, how the server fleet has been halved, how to move equipment without disruption to services, and the wider IT world.

Artificial intelligence makes data centers look like science fiction movies, but it comes at a cost
Airplanes are already practically flying themselves and we are very close to having self-driving cars. This is all becoming a reality thanks to the wider application of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Will the same fate befall the data centers that underpin our e-societies? Will our digital infrastructure start to think for itself and become ‘self-sufficient’?

INTERVIEW: data centers will soon get their own ISO standard to prove security, reliability and sustainability
In the middle of December 2022, Greenergy Data Centers, was recognised with the EN 50600 certification, which is unmatched by any other data center in the Baltics or Finland. The value of the EN 50600 certificate lies in the assurance it provides to the customer of the data center. We looked at the future of EN 50600 and why such certificates are needed at all.

What will the year 2023 bring? Here are five of the hottest trends in the field of technology and data management
Modern businesses are using and generating increasing amounts of data every year. The International Data Corporation estimates that the size of our data sphere will double in the period from 2022 to 2026. Therefore, it is justified to ask what currents carry it, how we can cope with this growth, and what it means for our businesses.

With the help of Greenergy Data Centers, SEB increased the accessibility and reliability of digital banking services
SEB made an important change in their IT infrastructure and is now using the biggest and most modern data center of the Baltics to provide clients a better service. The aim of this move was to modernise the IT architecture – the foundation – of the bank, which the bank systems accessible online and on the phone rely on. For clients, it means increased reliability.

Are data centers causing the energy crisis?
Keeping our digital society running is extremely energy-intensive. Everything we do online has to be stored and processed somewhere, and the volumes are huge. What is the effect of data centers on us in the context of the energy crisis?

We became the first EN 50600 certified data center in the Baltics
Estonian IT solutions have been at the forefront worldwide for many years and its IT infrastructure has now been officially acknowledged as one of the best. The audit process, which began with planning and has been going on for almost three years, was completed today, with the largest data center in the Baltics being acknowledged with the EN 50600 certificate, confirming that the complex meets the highest international standards. This is the only data center in the Baltic states and Finland to be recognised with the certificate.
