‘There are many outdated server rooms in Estonia.’ How to get in shape for a hot summer?
Last July, the more than 40-degree heat knocked out the data centers of Google in London – cooling systems proved inadequate, with the outage also affecting websites hosted by WordPress across Europe. If even data centers specifically designed to house servers cannot withstand heat waves, you can only imagine what this means for those that store servers on their own premises, for example, in office buildings with no suitable conditions.
With the help of Greenergy Data Centers, SEB increased the accessibility and reliability of digital banking services
SEB made an important change in their IT infrastructure and is now using the biggest and most modern data center of the Baltics to provide clients a better service. The aim of this move was to modernise the IT architecture – the foundation – of the bank, which the bank systems accessible online and on the phone rely on. For clients, it means increased reliability.
Why do I need a data center when all my data is in the cloud?
It is estimated that by the end of 2025, the amount of data generated every day could make up a stack of DVDs almost the height of the Tallinn TV Tower (314 m). Many organisations contribute to this, and all of them need somewhere to store their growing volumes of data. Broadly speaking, (IT) managers have a choice between the public and the private cloud.
Who keeps an eye on the equipment while the IT manager is on holiday?
You have probably all seen the NASA control center in a film. A room with a large screen and some smaller monitors, filled with people intently watching the screen and knowing the status and vital parameters of every piece of equipment on board the spacecraft. A similar control center, with a huge screen and a dedicated staff, can also be found in larger data centers. They will not be going into space, but much like the people working at NASA, they have a critical role to play in the success of the mission.
